Meditation vs stress

Meditation has many advantages and can have a great impact on your life. However, I will focus on a particular benefit that could save you a lot of bad reactions, stress and regrets.

Control your breath to control your mind

One of the core powers of meditation is the ability to remain calm. It doesn’t mean you become raincoat to any stressing situation. It means you develop the ability to understand it and view it from a distance. So instead of rushing in everybody or everything, or getting overwhelmed by the situation, you can take a path aside and observe it like a third person. This is the type of question that you should raise in your mind: « Why I am getting mad?  What do they want exactly? Can I react differently? » Then decide what to do and how to react. It can be applied at your work, for example if your receive an emergency email to fix a specific issue or when your kids are in a crisis for something you don’t understand. I could sum this point up by this formula : If you control your breath, you control your mind. The idea is to escape from the loop reaction that occurs for every situation. And to create new loops with controlled reaction.

Benefits of the meditation

Change the practice into a habit

The main point for you is to make this practice a habit. Start small and go bigger. If you manage to do it for 10 minutes a day it’s great. But as explained before, if you start with one minute it is already a victory for you.

Here is a list of benefits if you plan to go further in this path.
